The participant must hand over their mobile phone before entry.
Secondly, they enter a darkened room, put headphones on and lay down on a memory foam surface. A voice recording in ASMR style (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) talks to them as if it is their phone communicating with them.
Thirdly, they enter a darkened room and see themselves reflected in multiple interconnected digital screens. This reflection is jarring as it shows the participant from many different angles at once, revealing viewpoints of themselves that they seldom see.
Additionally, an eerie and somewhat overwhelming echo is produced if they speak, due to the digital distortion created by the interconnected screens. The room allows for intriguing interactions with the screens and the sounds.
Upon exit, the participants are given back their mobile phone, which is now wrapped up in a piece of paper that serves as an informative leaflet about what they just experienced and aims to trigger self reflection and promotes conscious technology usage.
